OUR PARTNERSHIP
Our Commitment to You
We recognize the enormous potential within each of your children. As such, we will:
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for your child.
- Encourage your child to explore, analyze, challenge and develop all of their capabilities and gifts - intellectual, artistic, physical, ethical and social.
- Allow your child to experience the joy of learning.
- Teach your child to be pro-active and self-directed and to take responsibility for their learning.
- Help your child realize that they can learn anything they choose.
- Teach your child to set goals and to measure success.
- Encourage your child to develop healthy habits of eating and exercise.
- Communicate with you regularly regarding the progress of your child.
In addition, your child will:
- Be part of a community that values diversity.
- Learn to respect others.
- Learn that revealing shortcomings is an opportunity for curiosity and growth.
- Learn to respect property.
- Learn to respect and protect the environment.
- Your child will demonstrate, at a minimum, a year of academic growth for each year of instruction as defined by the NC Standard Course of Study.
Your Commitment to Us
We can not accomplish these goals alone. We will work with you as Partners, and as Partners, you will be asked to:
- Read to your child for at least 30 minutes every day.
- Limit your child's television viewing to appropriate children's programming for as little time as possible - and certainly no more than eight hours a week.
- Ensure that your child gets a good night's sleep. Young children need between 10-12 hours of sleep each night.
- Support Central Park's efforts to have children bring nutritious lunches and snacks - no sodas or sweets.
- Support Central Park's work ethic.
- All students will clean up after themselves and each other.
- Provide appropriate play clothes. Central Park School children get very messy and play outside in all weather.
In addition, you will be asked to:
- Attend Parent Partner meetings, Parent/Teaching Partners group meetings, school functions and conferences with your child's Teaching Partner three times a year.
- Attend six family field trips each year as part of the overall instructional program.
- Support Central Park's commitment to learn about and practice sound environmental practices.
- Support Central Park's commitment to community service. This may require transportation and service.
- Volunteer for four hours a month in some capacity for the School.
Working together to help our children thrive!
